How is the exact age in days calculated?
The calculator takes the difference between the two dates in milliseconds, converts to days by dividing by 86,400,000 (milliseconds in a day), and then decomposes into years, months and remaining days using calendar-aware logic that respects month lengths and leap years.
What is the "As of Date" field?
By default it is set to today's date, giving your current age. You can change it to any future or past date — for example, to find your age on the date of an exam cut-off or a historical event.
Does the calculator account for leap years?
Yes. The JavaScript Date object handles leap years automatically when computing month and day differences, so February 29 birthdays are handled correctly.
What does "Next Birthday" show?
It shows how many days remain until your next birthday from the "As of Date". If your birthday falls today, it shows 0 days.
Can I calculate the age of someone born before 1900?
The date input field supports dates from year 0001 onwards in most modern browsers, so historical ages can be computed. However, the Gregorian calendar was not universally adopted until the 20th century, so results before ~1582 may differ from historical records.
